Jorgie’s Carnival
2023
After connecting on social media, I started working with the founder of Jorgie Apparel to create custom swimwear patterns. For this collection, we developed each design together, guided by our research into colour and print trends. I used both hand and digital illustration, and took on my first large-scale hand-drawn pattern, Beach Party. Every pattern was designed to feel fun and positive while making a bold fashion statement, for people who want to stand out at the beach, the pool, and beyond.
To prepare for the photoshoot, we made accessories for the models and built a backdrop. The shoot had a party atmosphere, and it shows in the photos.
The collection was featured in River District Living magazine, and customers continue to choose these patterns for their custom swimwear.
Good Morning
2023
Good Morning is a pattern set inspired by reinvigoratve weekend mornings. The palette is bold and playful, with red, blue, and yellow tones at the forefront. The set includes a bacon-and-egg pattern, a smiley face, a delicate floral in bold colours, and a pattern inspired by '90s arcade carpets.
Spoonflower reposted my reel of an apron I made with the bacon-and-egg pattern on their social channels, and Zaley Designs uses the smiley face, in the blue colourway, on their dog collars.
Until now, about 80% of my patterns were made in Illustrator, which makes colour changes easy. The success of a hand-drawn pattern I created for Jorgie Apparel led me to make this entire set in Procreate and Photoshop instead, and the result is a looser, more fluid style.
Baked
2022
Baked is a pattern set inspired by baking and doughnuts, with warm, comforting designs that look delicious. The patterns are simple at a glance and detailed up close, built around the sweet, subtle touches of baking and a sense of fun. The highlight is Donut, a bright, playful take on the classic cake doughnut, designed for one of Jorgie Apparel's limited-edition swimsuit collections.
High by the Beach
2022
For this set, I was my own client. With my living room and office décor in mind, I recoloured my favourite patterns from the past year and created a new large-scale palm leaf pattern, choosing colours I find soothing. It was a good reminder to make something just for myself.
In 2022, Jorgie Apparel asked to use two of these patterns for their swimwear, and it was amazing to see them on the runway.
Interplanetary
2019
Interplanetary, a collection of patterns that will take you to other galaxies was a self-directed project for my final semester of Graphic Design at the University of the Fraser Valley. Around then, Metro Boomin and Travis Scott each released albums with strong astro and space themes, and listening to them while I worked shaped the collection.
As a kid, I imagined outer space as bright, colourful, and full of strange creatures. As an adult, it's more of an unknown, full of mystery and beauty. Interplanetary brings both together: childlike illustrations set against modern, sophisticated elements, showing the beauty and the ominous side of outer space.
I also created a 28-page booklet that tells the story of how the patterns were made and shows the full collection.
Watercolour Mermaid Scales
2017
Watercolour Mermaid Scales is my top seller on Spoonflower, with more than 2,500 favourites, and it was the first pattern I ever designed. I made it in Illustrator in 2017, two years before I finished design school, for Spoonflower's "Whimsical Watercolor Fantasy Creatures" challenge.
It sits on the first page of both the "watercolor" and "mermaid" categories, and small businesses have used it on so many products that I've lost count. To complement it, I designed a matching mermaids pattern in the same colours.
