Jorgie’s Carnival

2023

After developing a relationship on social media, I started working with the founder of Jorgie Apparel to create custom swimwear patterns. For this collection, we worked together on developing each design with careful consideration of our research on colour and print trends. I used both hand and digital illustration techniques to develop these patterns and challenged myself with my first large-scale hand drawn pattern, Beach Party. Each pattern was designed to evoke a sense of fun and positivity while making a bold fashion statement. The collection is targeted to individuals looking to stand out at the beach, pool and beyond.

We then prepared for the photoshoot by creating accessories for the models and a backdrop. The photoshoot had a fun party vibe where everyone had a great time, which shows in the photos. We could not be happier with the result and the impact our collaboration has had.

Good Morning

2023

This pattern set is inspired by cozy weekend mornings. Up until now, 80% of my patterns have been made in Illustrator to change the colours easily, but the success of a hand-drawn pattern I did for Jorgie Apparel led me to complete this set 100% in ProCreate and Photoshop. As a result, I was able to create a more fluid experience that demonstrates my growth as a designer.

Baked

2022

My Baked pattern set is a collection of warm, comforting, and delicious-looking designs inspired by baking and doughnuts. These simple yet intricate patterns bring out the sweet and subtle elements of baking and bring an air of creativity and fun. One of the highlights is the classic Donut pattern—inspired by the classic cake-like treat, this bright, playful pattern was designed for one of Jorgie Apparel's limited-edition swimsuit collections and is perfect for an array of products.

High by the Beach

2022

With my living room/office décor in mind, I recoloured all my favourite patterns from this year and created a new large-scale palm leaf pattern. Since I intended to be the client of this set, I chose colours that are very soothing to me. It’s important to do something for yourself once in a while and I loved the outcome.

Jorgie Apparel requested the use of two of these patterns for their swimwear in 2022. It was a fun collaboration and was amazing to see these patterns on the runway.

Interplanetary

2019

Interplanetary was one of my self-directed design projects for my final semester studying Graphic Design at the University of the Fraser Valley. At this time, Metro Boomin and Travis Scott released albums that had very astro/space vibes and listening to them inspired me while creating these patterns. I love the juxtaposition of the childlike illustrations compared to the very modern and sophisticated elements in this cohesive collection.

I also created a 28-page booklet that tells the story of how these patterns were created and shows the patterns in their entirety. The following is the overview of this pattern set I included in the promotional booklet:

Interplanetary is a collection of patterns that will take you to other galaxies. As a child I had a fantasy of what outer space was. It included a variety of bright colours, interesting creatures, and a lot of excitement. Now that I’m an adult it is less exciting and more of an unknown place full of mystery and beauty. Interplanetary is a combination of my childhood fantasies and current wonderings coming together in an odd way to show the beauty as well as the ominosity of outer space.

Watercolour Mermaid Scales

2017

Watercolor Mermaid Scales is the first pattern I ever designed back in 2017, two years before I finished design school. I designed it in Illustrator prompted by Spoonflower's design challenge "Whimsical Watercolor Fantasy Creatures."

It is my top seller on Spoonflower with over 2500 favourites. It is also on the first page in the categories 'watercolor' and 'mermaid' on Spoonflower. I have lost count of the amount of small businesses that have used it for their products and I have also seen it replicated by many other designers and companies. To compliment it, I designed a matching mermaids pattern in the same colours.
